I first started collecting bird pin badges back in 2017 having always had an interest in the badges that the RSPB produced for their pin badge box scheme. Having been a birder and twitcher since I was 8, it was probably inevitable that the two interests would collide and I decided to try to produce a pin badge range of my own.
Having produced my first design, Rose coloured Starling in September 2018, the range has gone from strength to strength and I now produce 2-3 designs a month featuring birds seen in the UK. Each design is produced in a limited number, with numbers lasered onto the backs of the actual pin which match up with the backing cards you receive with each pin.
I also produce a quarterly range of pin designs for the Facebook group, Bird Pin Badges, which features birds from all over the world.
I've also been delighted to be able to help raise money for two organisations, Fair Isle Bird Observatory Rebuild Project and the Isles of Scilly Bird Group.
I never realised just how much hard work goes into producing each pin badge release, from design, through manufacturing to shipping them out all over the world but I am truly proud of each and every one so far, can't wait for the next!!
